I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling 23! – OK that doesn’t sound quite as smooth as Taylor but it will do.
On Thursday I spent my 23rd birthday on the slopes in France & my oh my what a beautiful day it was too. Aside from all the crashes, scoffing my face with cheese and ham baguettes and thoroughly enjoying my duck dinner, I also reflected on what I’ve learnt about life so far.
- Overthinking will destroy your happiness & mood. It makes everything seem far worse than it actually is.
- Wash your bedding once a week
- Its 100% OK to not have your life figured out
- Never give up on the things that make you the happiest
- Just eat what you want.
- Do something out of your comfort zone every now and again – this past year I’ve plucked up the courage to learn to swim. I am determined to overcome my fear of deep water and 2019 will see me become a more confident and stronger swimmer.
- Stop texting and make time to pick up the phone to call your mum or dad or grandma or grandad or sister or bestie.
- Have some savings. A little bit put away each month makes a big difference, especially if you find your in need of something to fall back on. A few years ago I was bought a Terramundi money pot and since January 2018 I put all my £1 coins into the jar. Without knowing how much I was putting away each week it slowly added up and now has all been put into my savings. Nice little Christmas bonus!
- Stuff fancy undies, head on down to your local Tesco and buy multi packs of knickers. 6 pairs for £4, bargain!
- I hate to say it but you will never regret a workout. It seems such effort beforehand, but once you’ve completed it you feel 100 times better about yourself
- It’s not a crime to have chocolate for breakfast
- You’re never too old to ring mum or dad and ask them how to do something? (Dad, how do I know if my tyres need replacing?)
- Being an adult is expensive.
- A good cup of tea instantly changes your mood
- Hangovers can last a minimum of 2/3 days.
- Friendships don’t always last forever. As you get older your friendships will naturally change, there are some people in your life who you will be friends with for life. And there are some that you won’t. Life happens. You’re not the same person you were 5/10 years ago and nor are they, and that’s OK.
- People’s lives are not what they look like on social media
- Drink more water. Your skin will greatly appreciate it.
- Night’s in can be better than nights out – for me good company, pyjamas, a board game or a movie most likely beats a night out in town
- Time goes SO fast
- You’re always tired. No matter how much sleep you get you are always tired.
