Dale, a tiny seaside village nestled into the far west of the coastal peninsula of Pembrokeshire. Mainly a shingle beach, but with exposed sand at low tide, it provides perfect conditions for all manner of activities.
Dale is the perfect spot if you’re a lover of windswept walks, rugged beaches & endless wildlife. The bay basks in its own little microclimate; on a sunny day its filled with local families and tourists soaking up that unexpected Welsh sunshine. Whereas on a windy day, you’ll find the bay crowded with various forms of water sports and just a stone’s throw away from the water’s edge is West Wales Watersports who offer equipment hire, taster sessions and tuition for all abilities. Or of course you could just do dive off the pontoon! On my visit we hired a double kayak for 2 hours costing £32 – it was A LOT of fun! To find out prices head to their website.
Dale also has its own little circular walk around the peninsula, totalling just under 7 miles. It is a well marked path with a few up and downs but nothing strenuous. The walk takes in dramatic coastal views, multiple hidden bays and you will even learn some fascinating history about the local area along the way.
PLACES TO EAT
The main spot to grab a bite to eat in Dale is The Griffin. Whether you enjoy the spectacular sea view from inside next to the roaring winter fire or out on the terrace in the summer evenings, it’s the perfect place to pass those hours by and tuck into some freshly caught seafood and enjoy a refreshing Welsh ale or wine.
I also highly recommend the Boathouse Cafe situated on the front next to The Griffin. The beachside cafe offers lots of great options from light lunch dishes, snacks and cakes to takeaway evening meals. There is also lots of seating indoor and outdoor seating for you to choose from weather dependant.
Pay & display car park at the back of the beach – the car park gets very busy fast, I strongly recommend arriving early.
Public toilets located by the main hall
Seasonal dog restrictions apply to part of the beach between May – September. Please clean up after your furry friend too!
Activity Centre & boat hire
Slipway to launch boats and mooring’s
Whether you’re simply driving by or heading to Dale for a family day out you definitely won’t be disappointed.
